I think the Air King is super ugly. I wouldn’t pay 00 for one, let alone above that. Literally .

I suppose the historic name ties it to, in Rolex’s words, “a homage to aviation”.

The new Rolex Air-King 116900. Featuring the Milgauss case, the 3131 movement, 904l stainless and a 40mm case it improves upon the older 34mm 114200 design i. I've always loved the 116900 Air-King. I owned it for a while, but the lack of lume bothered me (same with my Wimbledon dial Date-Just). Not a huge deal, but I was also a tad too thick. I think the Air King is a mess with the 3,6,9 mixed in with the 5-55 numerals. IMO, they should remove the 3/6/9 and replace them with lumed stick/baton markers, and also lume the 5-55 numerals. I also think the Air King, Milgauss, and Explorer II should all be 39 or 40mm. Leave the 41mm and up for models with the rotating bezels.

Granted, it is not for everybody and therefore the mixed reaction but I love it so much to a point that I see it getting more wrist time than the other watches.
